Established in April 2011, the Three Oaks Community Garden is a dream come true for a determined group working to support healthy, locally grown food. In a joint effort of the Village of Three Oaks and Three Oaks Township parks and funded by a start-up grant from THE POKAGON FUND, it has become an eye pleasing and productive community garden.

We have had marvelous success. Many gardeners have been with us since the beginning and each year a few new ones join us. We continue to provide fresh produce to the needy via soup kitchens and Meals on Wheels.

River Valley Elementary School students continue to be enthusiastic gardeners. Each year they start their seeds in the classroom under grow lights and move them to the grow tunnel in early spring. Each class plants a different heirloom and each child gets to take a plant home. There have been tomato tasting sessions, greens during gym class and veggie soup all from their efforts. Six beds and a grow tunnel are reserved for the school.

Thanks to Three Oaks Township, Village of Three Oaks and our community for making our garden grow! Special thanks to The Pokagon Fund for their generous start up grant and to all the others who have dedicated time and money to our efforts.
